The trunk. The ancient ash tree had stood on a historically interesting site in Rotenturm in Burgenland and had sadly become dangerous for its surroundings due to numerous rotting spots in the crown.
The trunk, which is more than 160 years old, is absolutely unique in appearance and size, especially in its final form.
The Craftsmanship. After being cut by hand with our mobile Alaska Sawmill, the individual posts were air-dried for 3 years. Then, they were dried for 6 months in a drying chamber to reach a moisture content of 9%. The raw material was planed, cracks and decayed spots were filled with lightly greyed epoxy resin. The surface was sanded to a grit of 180, brushed to create a relief in the grain and to make the surface more tactile.
Unique. The table’s uniqueness elevates it to the highest level of rarity.
