The trunk. The very old ash tree stood on a historically interesting site in Rotenturm in Burgenland and had already become dangerous for its surroundings due to numerous rotting spots in the crown.

The craft. After cutting by hand with our mobile Alaska Sawmill, the individual posts were air-dried for 3 years. Then dried for 6 months in the drying chamber to a wood moisture content of 9%. The raw material was milled off, cracks and rotten areas were glued with light gray epoxy resin. The surface was sanded to 180 grit and brushed to create a relief in the grain and to make the surface even more tangible
